Headlines from the world of radio & TV:
- The Raleigh News & Observer has a story on WNCN-TV, the NBC affiliate in Raleigh, N.C. whose news ratings have gone up since ownership transferred from NBC to Media General in 2006 - but not enough to eclipse top rivals WRAL-TV (a CBS affiliate owned by Capitol Broadcasting) and ABC-owned WTVD.
- Program Partners has renewed three Canadian dramas it currently has in weekly syndication for the 2008-09 season: DaVinci's Inquest, Cold Squad, and ReGenesis.
- Tribune's KWGN-TV in Denver announced it was launching a new 5:30 p.m. newscast, beginning on Monday. The program is a half-hour in length, and is sandwiched between sitcom reruns.
Locally, sister station WGN-TV is expected to launch a dinner-hour newscast sometime later this summer.
