The Ten, WFLD-TV's new 10 p.m. newscast, which targets the 18-49 audience, didn't attract much of that demo it in its premiere Monday night, according to Nielsen and Trib columnist Phil Rosenthal. The Ten didn't even come close to to achieving that number ratings-wise, scoring a 0.8 rating and 2 share, finishing sixth in its time slot behind the more established newscasts and sitcom reruns (Most notable: The underrated King of Queens earning a 2.2/7 in the demo for WCIU.) In the main 25-54 news demo, The Ten didn't even get close to what The Simpsons achieved recently.
As for the show itself, it has been described as "news on speed" and one poster on a message board said it was "Too fast for Chicago". It was more sizzle than steak, and at times, I wondered if I was watching The Insider. You'd think Pat O'Brien was going to pop out of nowhere to give the entertainment report. It seemed like Lauren Cohn and weather bunny Amy Freeze each drank 15 lattes before going on the air.
All in all, if people in my demographic (18-49) want a mockery of a news program at 10 pm. - we'll stick with The Daily Show.
